The philosophical questions surrounding existence in connection to our personal relationships and our domestic spaces/objects is a dialogue inherent in my work. I am interested in how and why humans create physical and mental environments for themselves. With these ideas, I am constantly exploring many combinations of altered domestic objects, home building materials, audio, video, photography, light or 3D printed/laser cut forms to create an experimental aesthetic experience.
Construction, exposure, raw material, and hints of technology are all used conceptually to explore the manifestations of our designed environments. Using physical everyday objects act as a metaphor for tangible reality. When those objects are altered, changed, shifted or paired with technology a new unexpected contrast is presented as a metaphorical illusion. A sense of seriousness and odd playfulness is the visual goal. I want viewers to recognize the everyday objects while offering a new narrative.
As a sculptor by training I am interested in building from traditional methods applied to non-traditional materials. I consider myself a curator of objects and materials, and a builder at heart.
